Emmy® award winning makeup artist Brian Sipe has been working professionally since 1989 as a freelance artist and through his company, Gamut Studios. Several major Hollywood makeup effects companies and production studios have taken advantage of his extensive knowledge and experience as a character effects designer and project manager.

The scope of his artistry can be seen in film and television projects such as Syriana, Ali, Son of the Mask, Big Momma's House 1 and 2, VanHelsing, The Passion of the Christ, Friends, Will and Grace, Friends and many others. His groundbreaking makeup design for the FX Network’s reality television show "Black. White." personally garnered him an Emmy Award in 2006.

Brian' work on David Fincher's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, helped nab the BAFTA and Oscar for Best Makeup.

Most currently, Brian was a part of the Makeup FX crews for JJ Abrams addition to the Star Trek franchise, McG's Terminator : Salvation, Cirque du Freak, and Cabin in the Woods.

Kevin-James Bennett to teach at ACMUSE

Multiple Emmy Award winner Kevin James Bennett has spent over 20 years exploring and mastering the many faces of the world of makeup. From backstage to boardroom, his carefully honed skills have secured his place as an elite industry expert and has garnered accolades from corporate peers and viewers of his work in television, film and print.
In 1994 he landed in Daytime Drama (better known as “soaps”). He became Key Makeup Artist for two network programs ("Another World" and "As The World Turns") and over the next 9 years received Five Nominations and Two Emmy Awards for his creative vision. He is also recognized as the artist who introduced "airbrush makeup" to daytime drama in 1999.
n late 2003 KJ left daytime to diversify his makeup experience. He worked on primetime shows like "Law & Order", lifestyle-reality shows for Discovery, "E", Style and Scripps networks, national commercials, independent and feature films. He also began consulting on product development and promotional marketing for a few high profile cosmetic companies.

In 2004 he consolidated his cosmetic experience and began developing his consulting company, MADE NYC. In 2005 he furthered his immersion into cosmetic culture by launching IN MY KIT, a professional makeup review and reference website. It developed a cult following and has become a pro makeup artist "bible". Today it is referenced and linked to internationally and is quickly approaching 1 million unique visitors.

In 2007 KJ became Director of Artistry & Development for MAKE UP FOR EVER. In December of the same year he appeared for the first time on HSN (Home Shopping Network). These appearances sparked a "following" and he began appearing regularly as an On-Air Makeup Expert.

Today, KJ devotes his full energy and focus to MADE NYC

Airbrush Equipment Q&A and Demo Night

Would you like to know the difference between an airbrush and spray gun or which compressor you are going to need to get the job done? Wondering what the differences between the airbrushes are. Then come along to the Airbrush Equipment Q&A as there will be many different types of airbrushes and compressors on demo.

Subjects covered will include:

Types and styles of airbrushes
The different types of compressors
Which fittings you need to connect everything up
What you need to clean it all

Product will be provided to try all the equipment, however make-up products and application technique will not be covered.

ACMUSE has agreed to provide the space free of charge

IMATS Sydney Student competition

This year's beauty/fantasy competition theme is Alice in Wonderland, inspired by director Tim Burton's re-imagining of the classic story, and the character/prosthetic competition theme is Grimm's Fairy Tales, which pays homage to the classic stories from childhood. All entries must be postmarked by July 9 to allow time for mail services and judging. The International Make-Up Artist Trade Show—better known as IMATS—will bring world-class make-up talent to Australia September 18-19, 2010 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year will be bigger and will have the student competition.
